For the Love of Visuals

Do you know what kind of learner you are?

Do you learn best from listening and hearing?
Do you need to move and be active in order to really focus?
Are you a reader that remembers things by writing them out?

I am a visual learner, and as a result, I love a good visual. In fact, I am always picturing concepts and client stories in my mind. Some of the questions I will ask the wonderful people that come to Kima Connections Counselling include:

"If we were to draw your problem, what would it look like?"

"How large is it compared to you?"

"How do we get some space from it?"

"Can we draw that?"

Clients at Kima become familiar with me saying, "I just want to show you a visual I made for you"! While I have very little artistic talent, and cannot sing or draw, I do love a good graphic. It helps my brain to learn a concept and I've found that children, teens, and adults alike can relate well to pictures, visual reminders, and prompts that help us to process the work we are doing together.

Here are a few of my favourites!

Your friend on the journey,
